A Private Family Only Service for Alejandro "Alex" Trevino Sr., 72, of Brownfield will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Father Peter D’Sousa officiating. Friends are invited to join the celebration at Brownfield Cemetery at approximately 11 am. Alex Sr. will be available for viewing from 1pm to 5pm at Brownfield Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, August 27. The family has asked that all guests wear masks.
Alejandro "Alex" Trevino Sr., 72, beloved Husband and Father, passed away on August 22, 2021. He was born to parents, Geronimo Trevino and Julia Morales on September 13, 1948 in Taft, TX.
In 1965, Alex Sr. met Esther Suarez. They were married on July 29, 1968 in Springfield, CO. Together they raised 5 children, Alex Jr., Annie, Theo, Geronimo and Margarito.
In the mid ’70’s, Alex Sr. had a 1969 Charger he would take to Hobbs, NM to drag race. He quit racing after several years to raise roosters and chickens. He continued for the next 41 years until present day, taking so much pride in a hobby he was so passionate about. Alex Sr. also enjoyed the Texas Lottery - on a daily basis he would try his luck scratching lottery tickets always hoping for the “Big Win.”
The biggest reward of all for Alex Sr. was spending time with his family and visiting with friends. Alex Sr. was a hard working man throughout his life. He worked for 37 years as a machine operator for Brownfield Seed & Delinting before making a career change. For the next 13 years, he was a truck driver for Larry’s Chemical. He would deliver fertilizer to the local farmers. Over the years, Alex Sr. became very well known and respected by the Terry County farmers. After 13 years of service, he retired from Larry’s Chemical in 2019.
Alex Sr. was preceded in death by his father, Geronimo Trevino, his mother, Julia Morales; a brother, Joe Saldivar; a sister, Gregoria Villareal; and a daughter, Enedelia Trevino.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Esther Trevino; 4 sons, Alex Trevino Jr. and wife Sandra of Beeville, Theo Trevino of Brownfield, Geronimo Trevino of Sinton, and Margarito Trevino of Brownfield; a brother, Arthur Zermeno and wife Kathy of Temple; 3 sisters, Theodora Saldivar of Brownfield, Mary Martinez of Lubbock, and Julie Gonzalez and husband Gilbert of Lubbock; 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alex Sr. will be greatly missed and will remain in our hearts forever!
