Alexandria "Alex" Marie Brown, 17, of Wellman passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 in Lubbock. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2009 at Calvary Baptist Church in Brownfield with Rev. Steve Carter and Rev. Britton Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 on Thursday, November 12, 2009.

Alex was born on December 29, 1991 in Lubbock. She spent a year and a half living in Plainview before moving to Union where she lived for 2 years. She then moved to Wellman where she attended school in Kindergarten and First Grade. She continued her schooling in Seagraves where she was currently a senior at Seagraves High School. Alex was involved in many organizations and activities including: FFA, FCA, FTA, Basketball, Cheerleading, OneAct Play, the Leadership Team, the Kairos Prison Ministry and the Drama Ministry with the Youth Group at Calvary Baptist Church. Alex was not just a sayer; she showed people how to love others as Jesus loved them. She was genuine and sincere in everything she did. She was who she said she was and was a avid Christ Follower. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Alex is survived by her parents, Johnny Mac and Jeanne Brown of Wellman; her sister, Katrina Brown of Wellman; her half-sister, Jennifer Howard of Lubbock; her half-brother, J.M. Brown of Kansas; her paternal grandparents, Ronnie and Jane Brown of Levelland; her maternal grandparents, Marvin and Ruth James of Wellman; 2 nephews and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

On November 10, 2009, the Brown family’s teenage daughter died following a single car crash. The investigation found she had been “texting” when she rolled her truck off the roadway. As it rolled she was ejected through the front windshield.
