Andrea G. Leon

Funeral Service for Andrea G. Leon, 92, of Brownfield, will be held at 11:00 am Monday, October 28, 2024, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father John Ohlig officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Brownfield Funeral Home.

Andrea was born on November 27, 1931, to Pablo and Margarita Gonzales in Helena. For 27 dedicated years, Andrea worked in the cafeteria at Brownfield Independent School District, where she became a beloved figure among students and staff alike. Andrea's culinary skills were not limited to her work; she had a deep love for cooking, often preparing delicious meals for family gatherings and friends, where her dishes became the highlight of every occasion. 

In 1946, Andrea married her beloved husband, Israel Leon. Their union was marked by love, support, and shared values that enriched the lives of those around them. Together, they built a life rooted in faith and family, and Andrea's gentle, kindhearted nature was a testament to the love they cultivated over the years. Andrea was a devoted member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and also a member of the Guadalupanas, where her faith guided her daily life. Outside of her professional and religious commitments, Andrea found joy in gardening. 

Andrea is preceded in death by her husband, Israel Leon; daughter, Esperanza Leon; parents, Pablo and Margarita Gonzales; and siblings, Nick Gonzales, Ramon Gonzales, Gonzalo Gonzales, Fermin Rivas, and Reyna Charles.

Andrea is survived by her children, Rosa Garcia, Sanjuanita Lopez, Israel Leon, Tomas Leon and Olegario Leon; 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
