Anna Katherine Chapman, 97, formerly of Brownfield passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010 in Lubbock. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Brownfield Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Chaplains Bill McGraw and Elizabeth Abraham officiating. Interment will follow at Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Prior to services the family will receive visitors from 1pm-2pm Saturday.
Katherine was born on August 16, 1912 in Dallas County to John E. and Dora Pearl Gracey. Shortly after she was born her family moved to Harmony Community in Terry Couny. She attended public schools first in Brownfield then Harmony and then graduated from Brownfield High School. Katherine then attended Draughans Business College in Abilene. Katherine married Gurley Chapman in Brownfield on January 9, 1934. He preceded her in death Jan. 24, 2002. She was employed at the Clerks office in Brownfield prior to employment with McGowans Abstract Office where she worked for over 40 years before retiring. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Brownfield. Katherine was also preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Marie Chapman in 1991; a grandson, Sean Eugenis in 1981; a sister, Miss Dutch Gracey in 1976; two brothers, Paul Gracey in 1976 and Rudy Gracey in 1983.
Katherine is survived by her daughter, Nan Eugenis and husband Don of Anton; 2 grandsons, Eric and AAron Eugenis; 3 great grandchildren; 6 nieces.
