November 20, 1934 — March 19, 2023

Services for Betty Jo Hinson, 88, of Brownfield will be held at 2 pm Friday, March 24, 2023 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Rosenblad officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Brownfield Funeral Home.

Betty was born in Dawson County on November 20, 1934 to Earl Delmer and Nona Villa (Smith) Cornett. She was raised in Union and graduated from Union High School. She attended Texas Tech after graduating, but it wasn't until later in life that she went back to school and earned her LVN license at the age of 54. She worked as a nurse at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock for 6 years and then spent 16 years as a Home Health nurse, but her primary occupation in life was that of mother and homemaker. Betty married the love of her life, Adrian Hinson on December 20, 1954 and they had 38 years together before his passing in 1992.

Betty was a Charter Member and the Communications Officer of the Brownfield Porcelain Arts Club since its founding in 1996. She loved china painting and had her own kiln which she shared with others. Betty was very community minded and taught sewing, cooking and local 4H classes. She worked in the Sewing Closet and taught many people in Brownfield how to sew. She also served as PTA President when her kids were in school and served as a PTA State Representative. Betty and Adrian were members of First Baptist Church in Brownfield.  Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Adrian; a brother, Royce Cornett, and a sister, Earlene Cargill.

Left to cherish her memory are her 3 daughters, Jeanine Hamilton (Chris), Adria Ann Crotwell (Wayne), and Sue Hinson; sister, Genell Ward and sister-in-law Harlene Cornett, whom she called "Sister"; 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved poodle "Miss Sweetie."
