Bro. Bill Wright of Plains, TX was called home to heaven and that big fishing hole with Jesus on Friday, February 19, 2010 at the age of 67.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Plains Cemetery. Celebration of Life Memorial Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Plains under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. Viewing and visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Plains. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Bill was born on January 19, 1943 in Boyd, TX to John and Bessie Wright. He married Linda Connally on June 8, 1963 in Boyd. Bro. Bill was a big man with a big heart who loved missions. He has pastored at First Baptist Church in Plains for eighteen years and previously at First Baptist Church in Gordon for fifteen years. He also served 3 churches in the El Paso area. He along with his people, have been very active in disaster relief all over the world. He loved to meet folk's needs, encourage young pastors, fish and play with his grandkids.
Those missing Bro. Bill will be his loving wife, Linda of Plains; his 2 sons, Greg and his wife Debbie of Muskogee, OK, and Shane and his wife Julie of Canadian, TX; his favorite daughter, Kay Wright of Chicago,IL; 4 grandchildren, Derrika, Bailey, John Brady and Brooks; 3 brothers, Marion, Eltwain and Elmo; 3 sisters, Nell, Naomi and Nina; his 99 year old mother-in-law, Esther Connally as well as his church and thousands of friends along the way who will miss "The Ole Bear."
