Memorial services for Billie June (James) Miller, 84, of Brownfield will be held at 1 pm Friday, February 22, 2019, at Brownfield First Baptist Church with Dr. Matt Baird officiating. There will be a time of visitation directly following the service in the Brownfield First Baptist Church Gym.
Billie passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019, in Brownfield. She was born on June 2, 1934, in Seminole, OK to William Tandy and Edna Pauline James. She graduated from Berwyn High School and then, she went on to receive her Bachelors from Oklahoma University. Billie married Darrell Lee Miller on June 3, 1955, in Gene Autry, OK. She taught school for over 30 years, 28 years of that time were spent teaching in Wellman. She retired in 1998. Billie was a member of Brownfield First Baptist Church. She was also a registered member of the Choctaw Nation, AAUW, Red Skirts and Retired Teachers Association. Billie was an avid reader and writer who loved crosswords, camping, and drawing cartoons. Billie is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gordon Bradley James.
Billie is survived by her husband, Darrell Lee Miller of Brownfield; two sons, R.J. Miller and wife, Daphyne of Denton, Greg Miller and wife, Beth of Algonquin, IL; five grandchildren, Daniel Miller and wife Tina, Rachel Beckwith, David Miller and wife, Tiffany, Jacob Miller, Caleb Miller; two great-granddaughters, Faith Calmes, Alora Beckwith; and sister, Rita Dean Conway.
