Carlos was born on November 21, 1940, to Carlos Moya and Maria Rodriguez in Brownfield, TX. He passed away on January 18, 2025, at the age of 84.
Carlos was a man of few words, yet every word he spoke resonated with wisdom and humor. His quiet demeanor belied a vibrant personality that was rich in creativity and intelligence. Carlos had a natural talent for mechanics; whether it was vehicles, farm equipment, or home repairs, there was nothing he couldn't fix. He embodied a spirit of lifelong learning, always seeking new knowledge and skills to improve both his life and the lives of those around him.
With a heart as big as his talent, Carlos dedicated himself to helping others without expecting anything in return. His generosity extended beyond his family; he was a steady presence in his community. He had a passion for welding and metal cutting, as well as a love for gardening and working outdoors. One of his greatest joys was singing Mariachi music, a reflection of his rich cultural heritage.
Carlos found joy in the simple moments of life, particularly in spending quality time with his best friend, Pedro Rodriguez. Their weekend adventures of sharing coffee and exploring garage sales were cherished rituals that brought smiles and laughter.
Carlos is preceded in death by his father, Carlos Moya; mother and step-father, Maria and Chano Rodriguez; a brother, Alfonso Moya; and 4 sisters, Emma Moya, Pilar Cancino, Linda Rodriguez and Tomasa Acosta.
He is survived by 5 sons, Johnny Castro (Angie), Alfonso "Alfie" Moya (Samara), Carlos Moya, Jr. (Dina), Danny Moya (Shelly); Gerry Moya (Sela); a daughter, Jeanette Moya; 17 grandchildren, Stacy, Jared, Zachary, Bentley, Savannah, Carlanna, Angel, Dina, Diana, Brittany, Bobbi, Donovan, Krystalena, Anthony M., Desiree, Dominic, and Anthony; 9 great-grandchildren; ex-wife, friend and mother of his children, Mary Moya; 5 brothers, Jesus Moya (Gabriella), Roberto Rodriguez (Sofie), Reynaldo Rodriguez (Lali), Raymundo Rodriguez (Adella), and Ramon Rodriguez (Alicia); 2 sisters, Chabela Gonzalez (Simon) and Cecilia Salazar (Ernie); special friend, Josie Gomez and her family; and cherished friends, the Melendez family.
