Services for Carroll "C.P." Doss, 91, will be held at 10:00 A.M, Saturday, February 19, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Brownfield with Rev. Ruby Moultrie officiating. Burial will be in Terry County Memorial Cemetery in under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
C.P. passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2011 in Brownfield. He was born October 6, 1919 in Parker County, Texas to Thomas and Elsie Doss. He attended Brownfield Schools. C.P. was a WWII veteran, serving in the Army Air Corp. He was a P.O.W. during that war. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and a former Mason. C.P. married Virginia Sue Watson on December 24, 1948 in Brownfield. He worked in construction as a concrete contractor. He farmed as well. He was a member of Brownfield First United Methodist Church. C.P. is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kerry Doss; a son-in-law, David Dawson; 5 brothers, Thomas, Wayne, Lester, Winfred and Barney.
C.P. is survived by his wife Sue Doss of Brownfield; 3 daughters, Sharron Hurst and husband Ron of Pampa, Karen Steffens and husband Bob of Katy, and Carol Dawson of Texarkana; 7 grandchildren, Eric Steffens and wife Rachel, Dirk Steffens, Shaun Hurst and wife Michelle, Samantha Hurst, Nicholas Dawson and wife Rachel, Stephanie Little, and husband Kevin and Cheyenne Doss; 9 great grandchildren; a great grandchild on the way; 5 sisters, Verna Mae King of Plainview, Gwyneth Line of O’Donnell, Winnie Kinder of Fairview, Janie Doss of Lubbock, and Maxine Doss of Mountain View, CA.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or First United Methodist Church.
