Services for Charles W. Upton, 85, of Brownfield will be at 10:00am, Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Carter and Brother Michael Holster officiating. Burial will be in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Charles passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011 in Brownfield. He was born October 1, 1925 in Mena, Ark. to William Franklin and Mabel Elizabeth Upton. He graduated from Plains High School in 1944. Charles married Frances Gray on December 24, 1946 in Tokio. They lived in Tokio for 46 years and then moved to Brownfield in 1984. Charles farmed for 25 years and worked in the oilfield industry for 33 years. He was a member of Tokio Baptist Church and then Calvary Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Upton; 2 sisters, Avis Schroeder and Opal Hughlett.
Charles is survived by his wife Frances of Brownfield; 2 daughters, Charlene Paul and husband Ed of Brownfield and Sharon Downs and husband Keith of Levelland; brother-in-law, Ray Hughlett; daughter-in-law, Nadine Mobley; grandchildren, Jayson Hillhouse, Jamie Gore, Kyle Downs,
Corey Downs, Craig Downs, John Paul and Matt Paul; 5 great grandchildren.
