Cheryl Ann Purtell, of Brownfield, passed away on November 24, 2021, in Lubbock, Texas. Cheryl was born September 22, 1945, in Howard, Texas, to Paul and Bobbye Turner.
Cheryl spent her years raising her family in San Angelo, Texas and then Valrico, Florida. In San Angelo, Cheryl worked hard raising her kids and taking care of her family. She was a full-time soccer mom and tennis chauffeur. While in Florida, Cheryl took up the game of golf, mostly to enjoy the social benefits with her many friends. While she never perfected her golf game, she was always a wonderful host for the many family trips to the beaches of Florida.
In 2002 Cheryl moved back to Lubbock and then Brownfield. She returned to her roots as a member of the Brownfield Methodist Church where she baked her coconut and key lime pies for events and enjoyed time with friends. She had very fond memories of her time at the church and to the very end, had wonderful things to say about her favorite pastor, Ruby. She also enjoyed reading a good book, watching classic TV, and playing bridge.
Cheryl will be missed dearly and remembered fondly by her family. She is survived by three kids and their loving spouses, LeeAnn Morwood (Keith), Grant Purtell (Susan) and Shawn Hernandez (Bill). Cheryl, or more affectionately known as "Nana", is also survived by seven grandchildren, Mackayla Morwood Stone (Dylan), Samantha and Alexanna Morwood, Leah and Ema Purtell and Austin and Justin Hernandez
A memorial service will be held in Brownfield at United Family Fellowship (formerly First United Methodist Church) on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 11 am.
