Clifton Vester Smith

Funeral service for Clifton Vester Smith, 88, of Loop will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Loop Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Loop Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Brownfield Funeral Home.

Clifton Vester Smith was born December 15, 1934 in Quemado, Texas, to Jesse L. Smith and Tressia (Jimmie) Burns Smith. He died peacefully on December 2, 2023, in his home located in Bedford, Texas.

Vester attended school in Loop, Texas, and upon graduating continued his education attending Draughn's Business school. He married Nancy Irene Burnett Smith in 1955. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He believed in service to his country, church, community and family. He served his country in the U.S. Army and served Loop Church of Christ as an elder. His service to his community included, but was not limited to, being a founder and original owner of Ten-Hi Gin and serving on the State Board of Directors for Farm Bureau for six years. He served and provided for his family through his love for farming in Gaines County. After the passing of his wife Irene, he met and married Sady Pytcher.

Clifton Vester Smith leaves behind to cherish his memories; his wife Sady Pytcher-Smith of Bedford, Texas; his children Brenda Cramer, Timmy Smith (Jackie), Michille O'Brien (Dallas) all from Loop, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Pam Smith of Lubbock, Texas and one brother, Arnold Smith (Martha) of Loop, Texas. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents Jesse L. and Jimmie Smith, his wife Irene Smith and one son Clifton Dane Smith.
