Clover Matt Barton Chambers, 88, of Brownfield passed lovingly into the arms of God on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at her home.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Brownfield. Interment will follow in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday night from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Clover was born on December 28, 1920 in Oklaunion, Texas to Thomas Matt and Ruth Johnson Barton. She attended schools in Union, graduating in 1936. She married Clevis Chambers on December 19, 1939 in Terry County. Clover was a longtime member of First Baptist Church where she taught the ladies' Sunday School class for many years. She was very active in WMU holding many positions throughout the years and also a member of the Eastern Star. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, sewing and embroidering. She loved keeping and helping raise their grandchildren who were the light of her life. The word "no" was not in her vocabulary. She and Clevis enjoyed traveling in their RV listening to Bluegrass music.
Clover is survived by her husband, Clevis Chambers of Brownfield; 3 sons, Buster Chambers and his wife Nancy of Morton, Jimmy Chambers and his wife Becky of Brownfield and Dr. Ron Chambers of Savoy, IL; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 2 sisters, Johnnie McCutcheon of Brownfield and Toybell Herring of Seminole; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Those who welcomed her home are her parents; her brother, Elvoyd Barton; 2 sisters, Robbie Hulse and Wanda Smith and her great grandson Dylan Thomas.
