Services for Domingo Martinez, 84, of Brownfield will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Father Gerald Leatham officiating.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6-8pm.
Domingo was born on March 11, 1928 in Skidmore to Ignacio and Ramona Martinez. He married Eva Medina on October 15, 1955 in New Braunfels. Domingo was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. He founded L.A.C.I.O. and was a fighter for equality. Domingo owned and operated Martinez barber shop until he retired. He was a supporter in the George Mayhon Campaign in which he attended senate sessions while at the same time was active in city government roles by assisting city employees in receiving insurance benefits and volunteering for community action meals on wheels
Domingo is survived by his wife, Eva Martinez of Brownfield; 2 daughters Herlinda Martinez Nunez and Yolanda Patricia Perez; 6 grandchildren, Raul Nunez, Eric Perez, Angel Rodriguez, Jose Rodriguez, Miguel Rodriguez and Andrea Rodriguez; 11 great grandchildren; 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
Domingo is preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters and a brother
