Funeral service for Dorothy Cobitt Terry will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Brownfield Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ruby Moultrie officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at the Brownfield Funeral Home.
Dorothy passed away to glory on January 10, 2022, surrounded by her family in her home. Dorothy was born February 21, 1921, in Quitman, TX to Henry Houston Corbitt and Rose Della Bailey Corbitt. She was raised in Loyola, TX and graduated from Klondike High School. She married Fred Eugene Terry on July 22, 1939, in Big Springs, TX. In their 64 years of marriage, Fred and Dorothy owned and operated a Gas Station in Hot Springs, owned and operated the laundry in Meadow, and farmed in this area and Dalhart for many years. They retired from farming in Dalhart in 1973 and moved back to Brownfield in 1993. During those retired years, they enjoyed traveling and spent a lot of time being snowbirds. Dorothy had many hobbies including; sewing, gardening, playing bridge, and floral arrangement. One of her favorite things were hummingbirds and camping, but most of all she loved her family and friends. She was a member of the Brownfield United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Royce Terry and his wife Bobbie Beasley of Meadow; Loy Terry of Waxahachie. She was Memaw to six grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and they all loved her dearly.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Fred, parents, three sisters, two brothers, daughter-in-law, Susan Terry of Waxahachie, and a great-granddaughter Christen Bryce Terry of Wolfforth.
