Services for Earnest Glen Hudson, 79, of Brownfield will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2008 at Shady Oaks Church of God with Rev. Eugene Ballard officiating and Rev. Eric Horton (Grandson) and Rev. Jerrel Tomlin assisting under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. Internment will follow at the Terry County Memorial Cemetery.
Earnest went to be with his heavenly father on Sunday, January 20, 2008. Earnest was born on January 31, 1928 in Terry County to Paul and Bertha Hudson and was grandson of I.H. “Big Tree” Hudson. He was raised in Terry County. He attended schools in Plains. He married his high school sweetheart; Elwauna Hicks on May 1, 1947 in Brownfield. Earnest farmed in the Gomez community retiring in 2005. He served on the Lahey Gin Board and was a member of Shady Oaks Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Elwauna Hudson of Brownfield; his son, Lynn Hudson and his wife Janice of Brownfield; 4 daughters, Karen Chumley and her husband Lee of Buffalo, Pam Slaughter and her husband Mike of Welch, Cheryl Crabtree and her husband Dee of Lubbock, and Twilla Rex and her husband Jack of Slaton; his brother Aaron Hudson of Sundown; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister, and a great grandson, Wyatt Langehennig in 2004.
Family visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
