Services for Elida G. Soto, 61, of Meadow will be 2pm Friday, January 31, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Brownfield with Father Gerald Leatham officiating. Burial will follow at the Meadow Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
There will be a rosary from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, January 30, 2014 in the Brownfield Funeral Home Chapel.
Elida passed away January 28, 2014 in Lubbock. She was born March 8, 1952 to Rosario and Josephina Garcia in Pleasanton. She married Juan A. Soto on May 17, 1969 in Brownfield. Elida was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. She worked at Meadow ISD for 34 ½ years and will be remembered as strong, caring, and selfless. She was involved with the Migrant Education Program and the Texas Education Association. One of the greatest joys in her life was working with the children of the Meadow ISD Community. She adored each and every one of her students as if they were her own children and grandchildren and had a loving and positive impact on every life she touched. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rosario and Josephina Garcia, 3 brothers, Alfonso “Al” Garcia, Avelino “PeeWee” Garcia, Abelardo “Lalo” Garcia, and sister, Elena Juarez.
Elida is survived by her husband Juan A. Soto of Meadow; 4 children, Miguel “Mickey” Soto and wife, Stephanie, of Meadow, Ismael Soto of Meadow, Priscilla Soto of San Antonio, Christopher Soto and wife, Tamera, of Lubbock; 5 grandchildren, Adrian Soto of Meadow, Alyssa Soto of Meadow, Tristan Soto of Lubbock, Michael Soto of Meadow, McKinley Soto of Lubbock; 2 brothers, Alex Garcia and wife, Janie, of Meadow, Adam Garcia and wife, Erica, of Meadow; 3 sisters, Eloisa Cuellar and husband, Alex, of Meadow, Elisa Diaz and husband, Ismael, of Oklahoma, and Esther Reynero of Meadow.
