Ellen was born on October 4, 1925, in Scurry County, Texas, to Jim and Agnes Sorrells. She grew up on a ranch close to Knapp, Texas, and graduated from Ira High School. She attended Texas Tech where she met the love of her life, Winfred Tucker. They were married in a garden wedding at the home of her parents on July 27, 1947. Winfred and Ellen lived on a farm close to Locketville, where they were blessed with two daughters, Winnell and Marjorie. They bought a farm close to Needmore and moved the house that they built onto the land. Soon Norman and then Carolyn were born to complete the family. They joined the Meadow Methodist Church and worked hard at helping it to grow. Ellen was very active in the United Methodist Charge Conference and a 4-H leader. Ellen was an excellent cook and great hostess, having so many parties, reunions and church events at their home. She was also an amazing gardener, growing beautiful flowers to share with all. Her artistic abilities were very good as well, as she painted quite often in her younger years. Winfred and Ellen enjoyed their life on the farm with their four children, eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Ellen is preceded in death by the love of her life, husband, Winfred Tucker; her parents; a son, Norman James Tucker and a granddaughter, Emily Young.
Ellen is survived by three daughters, Winnell Young, of Meadow, TX, Marjorie Jones and husband Terry, of Lakeland, FL, and Carolyn Keane and husband John, of Rockwall,TX; and a sister, Lucille Sterling, of Coahoma,TX.
