Funeral Services for Elvira Cantu Jimenez, 70, of Brownfield, will be held at 10 am Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father John Ohlig officiating. Rosary will be held at 6 pm on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Brownfield Funeral Home.
Vera, a beloved mother and devoted member of the community, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2023. She was born on January 24, 1953, in Meadow, Texas to Jesus and Fransica Cantu. She resided in Brownfield, Texas, for the majority of her life.
Vera was a woman of heart and grace, known for her unwavering dedication to her family and her faith. She poured her love and care into creating a warm and nurturing home for her loved ones. Her tenacity and resilience were apparent from a young age when she began working at the tender age of 12 at Cub Drive In.
An ardent believer, Vera found solace and guidance in her church community at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Her unwavering faith served as a guiding light, providing her strength and support throughout her life's journey. Vera is preceded in death by her parents Jesus and Fransica Cantu; daughter Michelle Leija; husband Ramon Jimenez; sister Mary Gonzales; brothers Robert Cantu, Lupe Tijerina, Joe Tijerina, Arturo Cantu, and Simon Cantu.
Vera is survived by daughter Virgie Guerrero and husband Tomas; very special nieces Brenda Simpson and husband Terry and Neveah Sambrano; grandchildren Nathaniel Salazar, Tomas Guerrero, Daniel Guerrero and wife Selena, Patricia Guerrero and husband Juan; and sisters Delia Barnhart, Anita Romero, and Dora Hernandez.
