Services for Kelley Gertrude Lowe of Brownfield will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 25, 2007 at Brownfield Church of Christ with Bob Reynolds and Derek McNamara officiating. Interment will be in Terry County Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Gertrude passed away Monday, October 22, 2007 in Brownfield. She was born in Howard County, Arkansas to Samuel Luther and Myrtle Josephine Womack Jones. She graduated from Nashville Arkansas High School in 1934. She then attended Watsons Business College in Nashville. She moved to Brownfield in 1940. She married R. N. "Whitey" Lowe Feb. 16, 1950 in Clovis, NM. He preceded her in death June 14, 1987. Gertrude was instrumental in the building of the Terry County Veterans Memorial. Gertrude had been the Terry County Democratic Chairman, Past President of the Terry County American Legion Auxillary and had served for over 10 years as a Pink Lady at Brownfield Reginal Hospital. She also worked for 15 years at Ross Irrigation and Western Pump Company. She was a member of Brownfield Church of Christ. Pallbearers will be Harvey Cottrell, Jerry Johnson, Jerry Jones, Randy Allison, Billy Womack Jones and Lee Miller.
She is survived by two sisters, Sue Ballard and Jo Jennings, both of Brownfield; nieces and nephews, Kelley Jennings of Lubbock, Oran & Hatti Elmore of Abilene, Marcene Lowe of Plains, Toni Wirth of Dallas, Sue Cottrell of Brownfield, Susie Hulen of Tyler, Billy Womack Jones of Texarkana and Mary Margaret Mahler of Seagraves.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Brownfield Church of Christ Building Fund.
