Glen Baker, 89, of Wellman passed away on Monday, November 9, 2009 in Lubbock. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Brownfield Church of Christ with Homer Jones and Jerold Baldwin officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Glen was born on November 14, 1919 in Millsap, TX to Allen and Willie Mary Baker. He moved with his family to Terry County in 1927 where he attended schools. He enlisted in the United States Army on January 23, 1942 were he was awarded several medals, including two purple hearts. He served for 44 months in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged on December 23, 1945. He married Heloise Trotter on January 24, 1948 in Brownfield. Glen farmed in Terry County for many years. He was also the bus foreman for Wellman schools for over 10 years. He was a member of the Seagraves Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers; Leon, Claude, Luke and Len Baker and 6 sisters; Lorene Loe, Naomi Caffey, Viola Howe, Iona Oliver, Willie Nell Thompson and Evelyn Adair.
Glen is survived by his wife, Heloise Baker of Wellman; his son, Stan Baker and his wife Deborah of Wellman; 2 daughters, Donna Frazier and her husband Richard and Rhonda Coats of Wellman; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
