Gloria Hedges

October 3, 1950 — November 5, 2020

Gloria Hedges, 70, of Brownfield, passed away on November 5, 2020, in Brownfield, Texas. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 2020, at the Brownfield Funeral Home. The funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 9, 2020, at the First Baptist Church in Brownfield. The graveside service will immediately follow the funeral at Terry County Memorial Cemetery.

Gloria was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Alterisio and Charlotte DiJulio, on October 3, 1950. She was born five minutes after her twin sister, Carol. She went to Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Texas. Gloria attended Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas, and Tarleton State University, graduating from Tarleton with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She married Ronnie Glenn Hedges on December 19, 1970, in Stephenville, Texas. Gloria worked briefly as a teacher at a little school called Threeway near Stephenville, before becoming a full-time homemaker and mother after the births of her children. Gloria was an active church member and a devoted pastor’s wife. Gloria dedicated her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her entire life was in service to Him. She homeschooled all four of her children through high school and is remembered by all as a good listener, encouraging friend, and joyful companion.

Gloria’s life was spent in service to others. As a pastor’s wife, she was a constant encouragement to her husband, Ronnie, and a supportive and prayerful friend to church members. Gloria’s children remember her as a kind and loving mother that was easy to talk to, interested in cultivating each of her childrens’ gifts, and selflessly caring for each of their needs as they grew up. Gloria’s husband and children remember her well for her cooking; Gloria made delicious food and loved to sew and crochet in her spare time. She made beautiful quilts, clothes, kitchen accessories, toys, and doll clothes for her children and friends. Gloria was also a talented artist and a voracious reader. She passed her creativity and her love of reading on to her children.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Alterisio Dominick DiJulio and Charlotte Inez DiJulio, her brothers, Joseph George DiJulio and Alterisio Charles DiJulio, and two children lost through miscarriage.

Gloria is survived by her spouse, Ronnie Hedges; her children, Brian Glenn Hedges and spouse, Holly from South Bend, Indiana; Jason John Hedges and spouse, Shannon from Lubbock, Texas; Andrew Michael Hedges and spouse, Alissa from Lubbock, Texas; and Anna Elizabeth Hedges-Springer and spouse, Skyler from Lubbock, Texas; her sister, Carol Inez McClendon from Aledo, Texas; and twelve grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Floydada, Texas.

I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me, even if he dies, will live. Everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. (John 11:25-26, KJV)
