Gwendolyn Yvonne Moon Sears

Graveside Service for Gwendolyn Yvonne Sears will be held at 12:15 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Terry County Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Brownfield Funeral Home.

Gwen passed away on February 28, 2024. She was 96, and known as the "Yellow Rose of Texas" and the "Texas Tornado"!

Born December 10, 1927, in Dunn, Texas, to parents Herman "Doyle" and "Addie Mae", she lived her formative years in Beaumont, Texas with her sister Vivian and brother Herman.

Upon graduating high school, she attended nursing school in Lubbock taking classes at Texas Tech University where she met her future/life/love husband, Earl Wayne Sears of Brownfield, Texas. They were married in 1949 and lived in Texas, Kansas, and Tennessee (over the course of their lives) having 4 children; Cathy, Robert, David and Kristie. They were active in church while living in Dallas, Newton and Memphis, building strong, extended family bonds and new churches. After settling in Memphis, both Gwen and Earl were actively involved at Second Baptist Church on Walnut Grove Road. Her love of family, friends, church and life has always shown through with everyone who met and knew her. Ever caring and loving, she kept everyone in her heart living a full, beautiful life!

Gwen is predeceased by her husband, parents, and siblings. She is lovingly survived by her four children; Cathy, Robert, David and Kristie. Her Grandchildren are Kelly, Morgan, Katrina, Andrew, Katherine, Molly, and Matthew. Great-grandchildren are Kaylie, Skylar, Scarlett and Reagan-Ann.
