Ira Edell Seaton, 90, of Brownfield went home to be with his Lord, Saturday, May 22, 2010, at his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Seaton and Rev. Lynn Dill officiating. Burial will be in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Ira was born June 3, 1919, in McCauley, Texas to Grover Ulysses and Alice May Seaton. He moved with his family to Terry County in 1939 and served in the United States Army from 1942-46. He married Mae Jean Bevers on September 10, 1947, in Wellman. She preceded him in death on January 24, 2010. Ira began working for the Texas Highway Department in 1946 and retired with 31 years of service in 1977. He loved everyone he met and was affectionately known as "The Candy Man." He was a member of Abundant Harvest Community Church.
Ira is survived by one son, Chris Seaton, and his wife Lisa of Brownfield; one brother, Bradley Seaton and his wife Jerinne of Brownfield; two sisters, Julia Woodard of Brownfield and Rose Jones of San Angelo; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog, Chino.
The family will receive friends at the church gymnasium following services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Abundant Harvest Community Church Ministry Outreach Fund, 101 S. 4th, Brownfield, TX 79316.
