Services for Fern Niles, 85, of Brownfield will be held at 2pm Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Brownfield First United Methodist Church with Ruby Moultrie officiating.
A visitation with the family will follow in Webber Hall immediately following the service.
Fern was born on March 18, 1930 in Vinson, Oklahoma to Samuel and Emma Jones. She graduated from Vinson High School. She attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma and West Texas State University graduating with a Master’s degree in education. She received several Administrative certifications through Texas Tech. She taught for 40 years in Brownfield and became the first woman administrator in the district. Fern married Clifford Niles on December 26, 1953 in Wellington. Fern was a member and organist for Brownfield First Methodist Church for 45 years. She was also a member of the Terry County Retired Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gamma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Niles; parents; 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
Fern is survived by her daughter, Nan Crowson and husband Andy of Belton, numerous family and friends and by her personal assistant Cindy Morin.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Brownfield First United Methodist Church or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
