Graveside services for J. T. "Buck" Albert, 97, of Brownfield will be at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Terry County Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Steve Carter officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Buck passed away Sunday, March 9, 2008 in Brownfield. He was born November 3, 1910 in Bugtussle, OK to Will James and Nancy Albert. He came to Texas with his family by covered wagon in 1922. Buck worked on a farm south of the Comez Community. He played baseball on a local baseball team. He married Minnie Virgie Lansdon in Lovington, NM, November 13, 1931. She preceded him in death after 55 years of marriage, September 2, 1986. They farmed NE of Brownfield for many years. They also owned and operated a service station at 3rd and Main Street before retiring in 1968. Buck came out of retirement and owned and operated United Van Lines & Storage and worked for Goodpasture for a number of years. Buck was a member of the Assembly of God Church. He is also preceded in death by 8 brothers and 3 sisters.
Buck is survived by a son, Chester Albert and his wife Sandra of Breckenridge; a daughter, Dorothy Marie Hughes and her husband Lee of Mustang, OK; 3 grandchildren, Linda Thompson and her husband Mike of Duncan, OK, David Hughes and his wife Denise of OK City, OK and Kristi Aimone and her husband August of Pearland; 2 great grandchildren, Jennifer Thompson and Josh Thompson; a sister, Ann Rounsaville of Utah; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
