James Richard Roe

Services for James R. Roe, 77, of Brownfield will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, March 9, 2009 at Brownfield Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Bob Reynolds officiating. Services are under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5-7 pm.

James passed away Friday, March 6, 2009 in Lubbock. He was born October 22, 1931 in Terry County to David Montgomery and Lillian Mae Roe. He attended Union Schools. James married Joyce Fern Lewis on June 25, 1948 in Brownfield. He was a Korean Air Force Veteran. James was a Captian in Law Enforcement for 31 years. He served as Assistant Police Chief to J. T. Churchwell. James retired from the Brownfield Police Department in 1993. He then worked in Seagraves and retired in 1995. He was a member of the Brownfield Kiwanis. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, 1 brother, 1 daughter, 1 daughter-in-law and 1 son-in-law.

James is survived by his wife Joyce of Brownfield; 3 sons, Rick Roe, Jr. and wife Wanda of Lubbock, Tony Roe and wife Debbie of Levelland, Benji Roe of Ruidoso; 2 daughters, Traci Herrera of Brownfield and Krista Roe and Juan Garcia of Brownfield; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
