Janis Marjean Marlow was born on May 19, 1937, in Gordonville, TX, to Hamilton and Margarete Rush, and spent her childhood in the Denison area. Around twelve years ago, she moved to Brownfield, TX, immersed herself in the community, and embraced the tranquility of small-town life. Janis peacefully departed this world on June 14, 2024, at the age of 87.
Janis adored her loyal Chihuahua, Peanut, and often spent her days solving crossword puzzles or attending estate sales in search of unique finds. Her warm and nurturing spirit extended beyond her hobbies, as she was known for her dedication to her family.
A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Janis found solace and strength in her faith, which helped her through life's joys and challenges. She leaves behind cherished memories of her unwavering love and support as a mother and grandmother.
Janis is preceded in death by her parents, Hamilton and Margarete Rush, and a son, Rance Marlow. She is survived by two sons, Layne Marlow of Brownfield and Scott Marlow of Palm Springs, CA; two grandchildren, Shari Henson (Dane) of Granbury and Auston Marlow of Fort Worth; and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brownfield Animal Shelter. A memorial service to honor Janis’ memory will be held at a later time.
