Jesus V. Arguellez, 90, of Brownfield passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009 in Lubbock. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Gerald Leatham officiating. Interment will follow in the Brownfield Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. Rosary will be at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Brownfield Funeral Home.
Jesus was born on February 17, 1919 in Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Ascencion and Ambrosia Arguellez. He married Alicia Gonzales on May 1, 1949 in Yorktown. Together they moved to Brownfield in 1952. He farmed for Charlie Caswell for more than 30 years. Jesus was a veteran of the United States Army serving in WWII. He was also a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
Jesus is survived by his wife, Alicia Arguellez of Brownfield; 8 daughters, Frances Arguellez Perez and her husband Ricardo of Brownfield, Flora Arguellez Garcia and her husband Ruben of Brownfield, Jane Argellez Perez and her husband Arthur of Brownfield, Beatriz Arguellez of Brownfield, Diana Arguellez of Brownfield, Cilvia Arguellez of Brownfield, Irene Davis of Brownfield and Gloria Martinez and her husband Leo of Brownfield; 2 sons, Antonio Arguellez and his wife Susan of Breckenridge, TX and Jesse Arguellez, Jr. and his wife Annie of Brownfield; his brother, Faustino Arguellez of Temple; 28 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
