Funeral Service for JoAnna Marie Gruben Dawson will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Brownfield Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Brownfield Funeral Home.
After graduating from Brownfield High School in 1984, JoAnna married the love of her life, Gary Dawson, on May 26, 1984, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and cherished memories.
Throughout her career, JoAnna worked at various local establishments, including Brownfield Senior Citizens, Brownfield News, and Atterbury Grain, where she served as a dedicated merchant assistant. Her friendly demeanor and hardworking nature left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Beyond her professional achievements, JoAnna was deeply involved in her community. For many years, she lent her time and efforts to Terry County Softball, playing a vital role in its success and growth. JoAnna's infectious enthusiasm for the sport inspired and touched the lives of many.
In her leisure time, JoAnna found solace in the world of ceramics. As an avid enthusiast, she would spend countless hours perfecting her craft, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her creativity and passion. She also found joy in painting alongside her grandchildren, sharing special memories and leaving a lasting legacy.
One of JoAnna's favorite pastimes was venturing to the mountains of Ruidoso, New Mexico. The tranquility of the scenic landscapes brought her a sense of peace and serenity, which she cherished deeply.
JoAnna is preceded in death by her daughter, Kayla Marie Dawson; parents, Claudie Ray Gruben, Sr. and Billie Jo Essary Gruben; sister, Sherry Kay Gruben; brothers, Claudie Ray Gruben, Jr. and Epkie Lee Gruben; sisters-in-law, Connie Dawson and Dian Dawson; and brothers-in-law, David Dawson and Marvin Dawson.
JoAnna is survived by her husband, Gary Dawson; sons Darryl Don Dawson and wife Jackie of Ft. Worth, TX and John Tyler Dawson and girlfriend Bailey of Lubbock, TX; grandchildren Kamarie Elizabeth Dawson and Bodey Wyatt Bartlett of the home, and Arlissa Dawson, Justin Dawson, and Quincey Dawson; brother Carl Gruben and wife Jan of Brownwood, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be gathering at Mike and Pebble Dawson’s home at 1596 County Road 480 (big red roof). Please come out.
