Graveside services for Joel (Joe) Wayne Herring, 81, of Lubbock and formerly of Brownfield will be 10am, Monday, January 16, 2012 at Terry County Memorial Cemetery with Roger Posey officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors from 5-7pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Joe passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012 in a Lubbock Hospital. He was born on March 31, 1930 in Seagraves to William Ellis and Opal Lois (Smith) Herring. He graduated from Andrews High School. He moved to Amarillo in 1944 with his family, then to Cisco, and to Andrews. Joe married Patty Bell Hull in 1950. She preceded him in death on November 12, 2001. He and his wife moved to Brownfield in 1965. He owned and operated Joe’s Pipeline Service and belonged to Oddfellow’s Lodge, where he was District Deputy Grand Master. They then moved to Lubbock in 1999 after retiring. Joe is also preceded in death by a son, Danny Wayne, who died in Korea in 1973.
Joe is survived by his children, Patrica Lynn Peters and husband Ken of Lubbock, Bobby Herring and wife Sylvia of Lubbock and Rocky Herring and wife Paula of Brownfield; 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
