Services for Joseph Gene Ridgway, 80, of Lubbock will be at10am, Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Brownfield Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors on Monday at the Brownfield Funeral Home from 6-8pm.
Gene passed away Friday, October 19, 2012 in Lubbock. He was born January 13, 1932 to Richard Weldon and Allie Mattie Hamilton Ridgway in Brownfield. He graduated in 1950 from Brownfield High School. He was a retired Air Force Veteran serving in Vietnam. Gene married Jo Ann Zant on September 4, 1953 in Brownfield. He piloted the KC 135, flew JFK and heads of staff to England and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and Lions Club. He also taught special education students at Monterey High School. He owned and operated a turf business as well. He remained very active even after retiring.
Gene is survived by his wife Jo Ann of Lubbock; a son, Danny Ridgway and wife Ursula of Lubbock; a daughter, Lynna McFarland and husband Dan of Highland Village; 4 grandchildren, Johnathan McFarland and wife Gina, Shawn McFarlin, Ellen Davis and Ginger Young; 4 great grandchildren; a brother, Richard Ridgway of Flower Mound.
