Celebration of life services for Juna B Smith, 94, of Brownfield, Texas, will be held at 11 am Monday, April 18, 2016 in the First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Matt Baird officiating.
Burial will be in the Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Juna finished her earthly journey and entered her Heavenly home on April 15, 2016, in the comfort of her home in Brownfield. She was born in Wimberley, Texas, on November 28, 1921 to Willie and Martha Wagner. On November 20, 1941, Juna married L.G. Smith and they lived in Brownfield for over 65 years. He entered Heaven in November of 2011. They had been married for 70 years.
Family members who continue to cherish her memories are; Juaneva White and her husband, Carey of Brownfield; Renay Johnson and her husband, Phil, of San Antonio; 4 grandchildren; Lauren White, of Melbourne, Florida, Travis White, of Lubbock, Shana Johnson, of San Antonio and Drew Johnson, of Parker, Colorado. Juna’s family also includes three great grandsons.
Juna’s joy was caring for her family and expressing her creative, God given gifts through painting, sewing and other unique works. Juna was known for her many years as a teacher of two and three year’s olds at Brownfield First Baptist Church. She was also a distinguished artist in the Brownfield area, winning many awards through the years. She was a member of the Brownfield Art Association and was instrumental in starting art classes at Brownfield High School.
Attending and serving at First Baptist Church was a vital part of her life. The family suggests memorials be made to the Mission Fund or the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church, 219 West Main Street, Brownfield, Tx. 79316.
