Services for Orvill Keith Cato, 80, of Meadow, Texas will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Meadow First Baptist Church with Rev. Ken McClung officiating. Burial will follow in Meadow Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Keith passed away Saturday, February 16, 2008 in Lubbock. He was born on August 21, 1927 to Charles Henry and Virgie Sue Lockett Cato at their home in Lockett, TX. He went to South Lockett School and graduated in 1946. He married Zelda Maxine Lemon on June 2, 1946 in Elliott, Texas. They moved from Lockett TX to Meadow in 1954. Keith was a farmer. The Cato family was honored in 1985 by The Terry County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Brownfield Chamber of Commerce with the "Outstanding Farm Family" award. Keith later served as director on the Soil Conservation Board for 12 years. Keith has been a member of Meadow First Baptist Church for 54 years, since he and Maxine joined in 1954. He served several years as Assistant Sunday School Superintendent and for 25 years he has been General Secretary. Keith worked several years with the Youth Group at the church. He is a charter member of the Meadow Museum Board, presently serving as Co-President.
Keith is survived by his wife Maxine; 2 sons, Roy Keith Cato and his wife Jude of Meadow and Kerry Don Cato and his wife Pay of Temecula, CA; a daughter Cheryl Adele Henry and her husband Rich of Huntsville; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ruth Grant and Helen Rogers, both of Wichita Falls; a brother, Glenn Cato of Vernon.
