Lewis Sharp

A Celebration of Life Service for Lewis Sharp will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 15th at Trinity Church Chapel, 7002 Canton, Lubbock with Rev. David Savage officiating.

Lewis Sharp, 84, of Lubbock passed away Saturday, April 11, 2009. He was born June 12, 1924 to James P. and Mary Evelyn Sharp in Tulia, Texas, the youngest of twelve children.

He attended Elkins School and graduated from Tulia High School in 1942 where he was involved in 4-H, FFA, band and choir.
Lewis enlisted in the Army/Air Corps and served in WWII in England from 1942 to 1946 as a Surgical Technician. He married Eloise Loring on October 15, 1946 in Tulia.
He was engaged in farming in Castro and Dallam Counties for many years. After retiring from farming, he purchased an apartment complex in Lubbock and was a paint contractor. He married Barbara Skarke on March 10, 1978 in Clovis, NM.
Lewis had a passion for music, ministering in churches and nursing homes. He loved singing and playing the fiddle and mandolin.

Survivors include his
wife, Barbara, of 31 years; his children Sherrill Overland of San Angelo, Eddie Sharp of Brownfield and Paul Sharp of Maryville, TN; his step-children, David and Donna Day of Kellar, Doug and Anita Day of Midlothian, Jill and Ray Bivens of Perryton and Steve and Barbara Skarke of Lago Vista; his sister Mary Edwards and husband Louie of Tulia; 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many special friends.
