Services for L.G. Smith, 90, of Brownfield will be at 10am, Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Brownfield First Baptist Church with Dr. Carl Moman officiating. Burial will be in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 5-7pm Monday.
L.G. passed away Friday, November 25, 2011 in Brownfield. He was born on May 18, 1921 in Post, Texas to Henry Edward and Winnie (Robinett) Smith. He graduated from High School in 1939 and then attended Wayland Baptist University. He was a WWII Navy Veteran. L.G. married Juna B Wagner on November 20, 1941 in Garza County. He moved to Brownfield in the 1940’s. He was a banker at Brownfield State Bank for over 30 years. He was a member of the Lions Club, Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce and First Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. He also volunteered in Prison Ministries while in his 70’s and 80’s. L.G. is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
The family members who will continue to celebrate L.G.'s life are his wife, Juna Smith of Brownfield; 2 daughters, Juaneva White and husband Carey of Brownfield and Renay Johnson and husband Philip of San Antonio; 4 grandchildren, Lauren White of Alexandria, VA, Travis White of Lubbock, Shana Johnson of San Antonio and Drew Johnson of Denver, CO; 2 great grandchildren, Benjamin Land of Lubbock and Kaylin Kelley of San Antonio.
The family suggests memorials to Brownfield First Baptist Church.
