Lucia Martinez

Lucia Martinez, 78, of Brownfield went home to be with her sweet Jesus on Friday, June 19, 2009 in Brownfield. Services will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Gerald Leatham officiating. Burial will be in Brownfield Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2009 at Brownfield Funeral Home.

Lucia was born December 30, 1930 in Karnes City, Texas to Jacinto and Francisca Garcia. She married Luis Martinez on November 1, 1952 in Karnes City. He preceded her in death in 1962. She then moved to Brownfield in 1970. She is also preceded in death by her son, Daniel Martinez; 4 sisters, Anita Morin, Salome Alaniz, Angelita Alaniz and Maria Villegas and 4 brothers, Pablo Garcia, Amador Garcia, Juan Garcia and Suzano Garcia. Lucia was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be missed dearly by her family.

Lucia is survived by 4 daughters, Mary Lira of Sinton, TX, Olga Beltran, Janie Franco and Linda Garcia all of Brownfield; 4 sons, David Martinez, Joe Martinez, Jimmy Martinez and Johnny Martinez all of Brownfield; 31 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and 3 brothers, Martin Garcia of Plains, Jesus Garcia of Lamesa and Gregorio Garcia of Kansas.
