Lucille Kirk died in her home April 14, 2018, ten days short of her greatly awaited 100thbirthday. She was born in Leonard, Texas on April 24, 1918, to Loys and Nora Tilger. The family moved to Meadow in 1922, where she graduated high school in 1935. She graduated from Draughons Business College in 1936. She worked for a time at Lubbock Army Air Field and married Edgar Kirk from a Glider Unit there in 1944. Residing in Brownfield since 1967, Lucille worked at USDA/Terry County ASCS, was a member of Terry County Museum Board, as an avid oil painter and was very active in Brownfield Art Association.
Her parents, husband Edgar, and all her siblings, brothers Orville, Smith and Bill Tilger, and sisters Jerry Johnson and Jamie Cheek, preceded Lucille in death. She is survived by daughter Betty White (Clayton), Ron Kirk (Hope), and Keith Kirk (DeAndra) and grandchildren Phillip, Jeff, Brandon and John Kirk, Lara Davis, Mitch White, Andrea Bridges and Kristen Sands. The family grew to include twenty great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Lucille was a longtime member of Meadow First Baptist Church, where services will be held 2 pm Saturday, April 21, 2018, followed by interment at Meadow Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday the 20thfrom 5:00 pm 7:00 pm at the Brownfield Funeral Home.
