Margarita Vela Villalpando

Memorial Service for Margarita Villalpando will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, January 10, 2025, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Brownfield Funeral Home, with Rosary at 6:00 pm.

Our dear mother, Margarita Vela Villalpando, sadly passed away on January 4, 2025, at the age of 87. She was a wonderful wife and mother who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance.

Margarita was born on February 3, 1937, to Julio and Juanita Vela in Yorktown, Texas. She was one of nine children and loved her siblings dearly. In her teenage years, she worked as a housekeeper and at the dry cleaners. As she got older, she traveled with her family migrant farming and ended up in Brownfield, Texas, where she met and married the love of her life, Roberto Villalpando, on August 21, 1967.

Over the 57 wonderful years of marriage, Margarita and Robert welcomed four children. She worked alongside her husband and children in the fields every summer and loved the farm life. She loved to cook and take care of her home. Margarita loved when her children and grandchildren would walk in the door to visit. She was extremely fond of dresses and always looked nice to go out and about. When she wasn’t out, you could find her relaxing on the couch watching her novela, The Young and the Restless was her favorite.

Margarita is preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert Villalpando, Jr.; and four siblings. She is survived by her loving husband Roberto Villalpando, son Ruben (Ralynn), son Fidel (Stephanie), and daughter Matilde (Ignacio); 12 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
