Marie Cornett

Services for Marie Cornett, 93, of Brownfield will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Brownfield Church of Christ with Bob Reynolds officiating. Internment will be at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at Lamesa Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

Marie passed away Thursday, August 28, 2008 in Lubbock. She was born on November 4, 1914 in Rotan, Texas to Ben and Ruby Davis. She married Clarence Cornett on December 25, 1937 in Lamesa. They moved to Terry County in 1943. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1996. Marie had a Masters Degree from Texas Tech University and a Bachelors Degree from Abilene Christian University. She was a retired teacher who had worked for 40 years teaching in Wells, Munger, Wilson and Brownfield. She was a member of the Brownfield Church of Christ and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Orvis Davis and 3 sisters, Naomie Lorayne Davis, Monette Beverley and Jeanelle Coronado.

Marie is survived by a daughter, Clarice Godwin and her husband Donald of Brownfield; 2 grandchildren Clinton Godwin and his wife Celia of Broken Arrow, OK and Donice Jordan and her husband John of McKinney; 5 great grandchildren, Blake Godwin, Trevor Godwin, Amanda Jordan, Casey Jordan and Stephanie Jordan; a sister-in-law, Sue Cornett of Lamesa; a sister-in-law, Gloria Davis of Lamesa; several nieces and nephews.
