Marilyn Jean Adair

January 5, 1948 — July 23, 2017

Marilyn J Adair, 69, went to be with her savior on Sunday, July 23rd, 2017 after an 18 month battle with brain cancer. Secure in her faith in Jesus Christ, and with the knowledge that her family knew her unconditional love, she was granted peace throughout her struggle.

Marilyn was born in Riverside, CA to the late John and Thelma Carmichael. After living in California, New York, Waco and Japan she graduated from J.W. Nixon High School in Laredo Texas, class of 1966. In Wellman Texas, on January 7th, 1967 Marilyn married David Adair, whom she had met while visiting her aunt and uncle two years prior. She was a loving wife and mother who dedicated herself to creating a loving home for her family over the next 50 years.

In addition to caring for her home and family, Marilyn was active in her church and her community. She attended several congregations but has attended Wellman Baptist for more than twenty years and dearly loved her church family. She has volunteered with many civic, religious and political organizations. These have included Angel Tree Ministries, Hospice, 4H, Cub Scouts and CWA. She also served as an election official for her county precinct for many years. A voracious reader and with a thirst for knowledge she always had a book she was reading. These often concerned the study of God’s word, which was one of her great passions.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, David; her son Greg and his wife Machelle; her son Patrick and his wife Jennifer; her niece Lori Orlando and her husband Mario; her grandchildren Hannah, Jessa, Garrett and Kate Adair; and her great niece Bella Orlando. She is preceded in death by her brother Johnny and her parents.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 27th at the First Baptist Church of Brownfield with the Reverend Eddie McHugh officiating. Visitation will follow.

The family will also be receiving visitors from 6-8 pm Wednesday, July 26th, at Brownfield Funeral Home. Marilyn will be buried at Terry County Memorial Cemetery. Graveside services will be at 11:00 am preceding the memorial service.
