Marilyn Schell Fanwell, better known as Kitty, passed away on April 3, 2020, at the age of 83. She was born in Macon, Georgia, on September 27, 1936.
Kitty grew up in Georgia and Massachusetts, and throughout her life traveled and lived in many states. She loved her family, her children, grandchildren, great grandchild, and also her pets, which she treated as family. Kitty also loved her church and church family, First Baptist Church Brownfield, and was sad the last few years that she was not able to attend as regularly as she would have liked, due to decreasing mobility and health.
Kitty loved reading, puzzles of all kinds, crafts, and cooking and baking for family and friends. If anyone needed a cake or pie or a meal, she was always ready to share her gift of hospitality.
Kitty is survived by two daughters, Martha Ewing and Terry of Brownfield, Texas, and Nancy Carter of La Quinta, California. Those who know her as “Gramma Kitty” include Sara Lupa and Tim of Austin, Texas; Jeffrey Ewing of Seattle, Washington; Amy Ewing of Austin, Texas; Sierra Doria of La Quinta, California; Tanner Doria of Provo, Utah; Lorie Person and Christopher Mead and great-granddaughter Mallory of South Windsor, Connecticut; Bryan Person of Draper, Utah; and five nieces and nephews.
Kitty was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Fanwell; her parents Frances Bittick Schell Whittet and William Schell; her son Kenneth Carter; and her youngest daughter Christi Tiner; and sister Pat Popoli.
A memorial service celebrating Kitty’s life and homegoing to be with her Lord and Savior will be held at a later date (yet to be determined).
