Gravesides services for Marjorie Purtell, 97, will be held at 10am Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Terry County Memorial Cemetery with Jack and Jerry Purtell officiating.
There will be a family visitation on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 5pm to 7pm at Brownfield Funeral Home.
Marjorie graduated to Heaven on May 28, 2016 in Lubbock. She was born on February 26, 1919 in Luther, OK to Alfred and Inez Dellenbaugh. She graduated from Guthrie High School. Marjorie married R.J. Purtell on November 25, 1937 in Guthrie, OK. She was a lifelong resident of Brownfield and member of the First Baptist Church. Her special interest included Bible Study, Prayer Group, making flower arrangements and oil painting of the Blue Bonnets of Texas. Marjorie was also a member of the Brownfield Art Association where she received many blue ribbons for her flower arrangements and oil painting.
She is preceded in death by her husband, R. J. Purtell, parents and three brothers, Kenneth, Ernest and Leroy Dellenbaugh.
Marjorie is survived by three children, Jerry Purtell and wife, Vicki, of Baton Rouge, LA, Jack Purtell and wife, Priscilla, of Brownfield, Roy Purtell of Lubbock; 6 grandchildren, Jack B. Purtell, Todd Purtell, Karen Nassraway, Debbie Diaz, Lisa White, Travis Purtell; 11 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
