Mary Ellen Ortiz

Maria Cervantez Ortiz, 71, of Lamesa, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, January 4, 2021.

Viewing will be held from 12 pm-8 pm on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at Brownfield Funeral Home.

Service will be held at Lamesa Cemetery at 2 pm on Monday, January 11, 2021, under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

Maria was born on August 13, 1949, in Chicot, Arkansas to Hillario Cervantez and Pilar Arrendondo. She raised her family in Lamesa and was very involved in her children's activities. She was very active in her church. Maria was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee Ortiz; brother, Fred Cervantez, and son, Hillario Ortiz.

Maria is survived by her sons, Ramiro Ortiz and wife Elaine of Brownfield, Lee Ortiz of Colorado City, Rudy and wife Marie Ortiz of Lamesa, Javier and wife Josie Ortiz of Lamesa; daughter, Sonia Reyes; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Maria was loved by her family and many friends of her community. She will be dearly missed.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Ortiz will be Aric Carnero, Felipe, Carnero, Adrian Reyes, Ninfa Leija, Matthew Ortiz, Timothy Ortiz, Eric Ortiz, and Ismeal Ortiz.
