Mary Lee Hudspeth Gunnels, better known as Mimi, passed away April 11, 2021, in her sleep. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Brownfield Funeral Home, with Kerry Grandy officiating. Burial will follow at Terry County Memorial Cemetery.
Mary met the first love of her life, Bobby Gunnels, nearly 43 years ago and was married 42 years ago. Mimi had two sons Robby Gunnels out of Tyler, Texas, and Andrew Gunnels from Brownfield. She devoted herself to her sons growing up, being very active in their lives -- almost to the point of being annoying to her boys. Anyone close knew her love of being the center of the conversation, and had to know what's going on.
In March 2004, she found her calling when she became a "Mimi." Over the last 17 years, Mimi has loved, adored, spoiled, and worshipped her seven grandchildren as her grandchildren loved her. She knew nothing but love, caring and enjoyed teaching valuable life lessons any chance she had. Her cooking lessons will be missed. Mimi was preceded in death by her parents, George and Vona Lee Hudspeth, and sister Linda Sue Hudspeth.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Bobby Gunnels; sons, Andrew Gunnels of Brownfield, and Robert Gunnels of Tyler, TX. Her ''adopted' daughter-in-loves Terra Gunnels and Brianna Gunnels; although they were daughter-in-law's she claimed them both as daughters clearly. Her pride and joys were her grands; Austin Gunnels, Hunter Hendley, Audrey Gunnels, Kadin Gunnels, Hadlea Gunnels, Lilly Piper, and Brylee Gunnels; a brother John A. Hudspeth and wife Cresent of Brownfield.
Her love of her family was never doubted nor was her family's love for her. Although her passing was sudden, she is now at peace, catching up with her mom and dad on the news of all the grands. We will love and miss you forever Mamma, Mimi, sister, aunt and honey.
