Graveside services for Mary Schmucker will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held at Brownfield Funeral Home on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Mary Emma Reeves Gannaway Schmucker passed away March 14, 2016 in El Paso. She was born on April 11, 1930 to Robert and Sarah Reeves in Haskell. She was the youngest of five and the only girl. She graduated from Haskell High School and started her college education at HSU. She married Jerry Gannaway on May 21, 1950 in Abilene. They moved to Brownfield where he taught piano until his death from injuries sustained in a car accident on June 18, 1971. Mary returned to Texas Tech to complete her education and got her teaching degree. She taught high school business for the next 21 years and was named Business Educator/Teacher of the Year District 18 for 1992-1993. The lord chose to bless her again by sending a wonderful Christian man into her life, Bob Schmucker. They married on March 18, 2000, and he passed away on January 24, 2005.
Mary is preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents and four brothers, Cecil, Bill, Charles and Truett.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Paige Hickson, of El Paso; a son, Craig Gannaway and wife, Laura, of Sweetwater; six grandchildren, Bret Moon and wife, Kim, of El Paso, Aimee Conner, of El Paso, Justin Hickson and wife, Tori, of Stamford, Melissa Whitworth and husband, John, of Abilene, Erin Nelson and husband, Ryan, of Albany and Emily Hamilton and husband, Cade, of Clyde; 16 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
