Services for Melba Dean Lindsey, 87, of Lubbock and formerly of Brownfield will be at 10am, Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Brownfield Funeral Home Chapel with Don McWhorter officiating. Burial will be in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Melba passed away Saturday, November 3, 2012 in Lubbock. She was born October 18, 1925 in Tokio to William Earl and Nonnie (Guynes) Bond. She graduated from Brownfield High School in 1943. She married Thomas Rogers Lindsey on September 23, 1949 in Lovington, NM. He preceded her in death on February 16, 2001. Melba and her husband owned and operated Lindsey Hardware in Brownfield for 48 years before retiring. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Melba is survived by her son, Dr. Phillip Lindsey and wife Mary Ann of Lubbock; a daughter, Robin King and husband Kim of Brady; 5 grandchildren, Phillip Rogers Lindsey, Jr., Jonathan Nash Lindsey, Joe Riley King, Montie Bond King and Thomas Brantley King; 2 brothers, Bill Bond and Jerry “Snooks” Bond; a cousin, Evelyn Farrar of Brownfield.
