Opal Briscoe

Memorial services for Opal Briscoe, 104, of Brownfield will be at 2pm, Monday, December 5, 2011 at Brownfield First Christian Church with Rev. Ken Reeder officiating. Burial will be in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

There will be a family visitation at the funeral home from 6-8pm on Sunday.

Opal passed away Thursday, December 1, 2011 in Lubbock. She was born April 6, 1907 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Opal married L.D. Briscoe on June 15, 1925 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on January 27, 1988. They moved to Brownfield in 1946. She was a member of Brownfield First Christian Church. She is also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Robert Briscoe; a grandson Leonard Baker; a great grandson, Ryan Baker; 4 brothers and 4 sisters.

Opal is survived by her sons, L.D. "Buddy" Briscoe and wife Nancy of Brownfield, Charles Briscoe and wife Neva of Santa Maria, CA; a daughter, Linda Baker and husband Cecil of Lubbock; 10 grandchildren, David Briscoe, Sharon Klosterman, Daryl Briscoe, Sherri Briscoe, Bobby Briscoe, Carolyn McNutt, Rhonda Bennett, Michael Baker, Sarah Briscoe and Aaron Briscoe; 17 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
