Patsy LaVerne Ancinec

August 27, 1929 — July 30, 2010

Patsy LaVerne Ancinec, 80, of Plains passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2010 in Levelland.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 2, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Plains with Pastor Matt Webb and Pastor Gene Hudgins officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

Viewing and visitation will be Sunday, August 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Plains First Baptist Church.

Patsy LaVerne Ancinec was born on August 27, 1929 in Sudan,TX to Wylie Ray and Thelma Olive (Mason)McDaniel. She began school in Sudan, before moving with her family to the family farm in Whitharral. Patsy was a petite, outstanding basketball player and graduate of Whitharral High School. Patsy made her profession of faith to Christ at a young age. It was at that time she was baptized and became a member of Whitharral First Baptist Church. She grew up as the only girl in a houseful of boys. They worked very hard together on the farm and were very close. She helped her parents survive having to sons overseas during WWII. Laverne married Joseph Ancinec on September 20, 1947 in Whitharral. After their marriage, they lived in Littlefield for 3 years before moving back to the family farm in Whitharral. In 1952, they had the opportunity to move to Plains, TX on newly acquired land, which became their permanent residence for the last 63 years.

Patsy was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a sweet, Christian lady who was very proud that she made a difference in the world by being an active member of the Christian-based Concerned Women in America. She was an excellent cook, well known in her family for her Oatmeal cookies as well as being an excellent gardener, not just a seamstress, but a designer of many beautiful clothes and home decor. She enjoyed oil painting and pastel; chalk painting. LaVerne worked feverishly on the family farm as needed, helping harvest well past sunset. She had an unconditional love for her family. She was greatly cherished by all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Laverne was a modest, unpretentious woman, the "salt of the earth."

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Gregg Ancinec in May 2009 and Bobby Ancinec in March 1960; her grandson, Shad Ancinec in 1971; her great grandson, Ethan on July 2, 2004; her grandson-in-law, Brad Langford in February of 2010; two brothers in childhood, Curtis and Bobby McDaniel, two brothers, Kenneth and Dale McDaniel, and her sister-in-law, Mardi McDaniel.

Those left to cherish the memory of Laverne are her husband, Joseph Ancinec of Plains; her son, Brad Ancinec and his wife Vicki of Plains; her daughter, Gail Holley and her husband Jerry of Plains; 14 grandchildren, Trevor, Afton, Brooke and her husband Marty, Kinsey, Autumn and her husband Jake, Kelsie, Cory, Elizabeth and her husband Steve, Kiri and her husband Shane and Chand and her husband Shelby, Donice and her husband Scott, Justin, Corie and Sterling and his wife Tammy; 30 great grandchildren; her brother, Lynn McDaniel and his wife Nell of Amherst; her daughter-in-law, Rheanell Ancinec of Levelland and a sister in-law,Clara McDaniel of Lubbock.

The family of LaVerne would like to express a special thank you to Maria, Megan, Janie, Yazmin, Yoakum County Hospital doctors and support staff, and to home health for their kindness in care.
