Services for Peter A. Van Der Vlist, 83, of Brownfield will be held at 10am on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Brownfield Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnnie Long officiating.
Burial will follow in the Meadow Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held at Brownfield Funeral home on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 5-7pm.
Peter was born on April 12, 1930 in Grand Rapids, MI to Johannes and Antonette Van Der Vlist. He retired from the Army after twenty years of service. He moved to Brownfield in 1978. Peter is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Samuel Vandervlist and 3 brothers, Joe, Al and Bill Van Der Vlist.
Peter is survived by 4 sons, Richard Van Der Vlist and wife Jenny of Brownfield, Kenneth Van Der Vlist of San Diego, CA, Claude Van Der Vlist and wife Karen of Dallas, GA and Paul Van Der Vlist and wife Jennifer of Greenville, TX; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and a brother, Theodore Van Der Vlist of Grand Rapids, MI.
